Title: (Not Quite) On the Cover of the Rolling Stone

Characters: Charlie, Liam

Rating: PG

Words: 355

Disclaimer: Characters not mine. Title adapted from the Dr. Hook song “On the Cover of the Rolling Stone”.

A/N: Very late offering for[info]toestastegood who requested Charlie and for [info]tellshannon815 who requested characters who are gone but not forgotten.

“We did it Baby Brother!”

The sound of Liam’s voice startled Charlie who was concentrating on tightening his guitar strings. He turned the peg a little too hard and the string he was working on snapped.

“Bollocks!” Charlie shouted in frustration. “Are you trying to do give me a heart attack?”

Liam’s grin just widened and Charlie noted with apprehension the devilish gleam in his brother’s eyes. A lifetime of growing up with Liam had taught Charlie that look generally meant nothing good.

Liam sprawled on the couch beside Charlie and brandished a copy of the latest issue of Rolling Stone dramatically. Charlie wondered if Liam had finally lost his mind.

“Are you high?” he asked. Liam laughed in response and tossed the magazine into his lap.

“Yes,” he replied. “But that’s not the point. Look!”

Charlie watched as Liam snatched the magazine back and flipped to the middle. He pointed to a small blurb buried in the review section. Charlie felt his mouth drop open when he saw the word “Driveshaft” printed on the page.

“Liam, we’re in bloody Rolling Stone!” Charlie shouted gleefully.

“Now you’re getting it!” Liam replied as he slapped his little brother on the back.

Charlie started laughing suddenly. Ever since he was a kid he had flipped through copies of Rolling Stone and dreamed of seeing his name, now there it was in black and white. He was grinning so hard his cheeks hurt.

As his eyes continued to scan the blurb he felt his heart begin to sink.

“It says we’re terrible. They said we’re “the poor man’s Oasis.” They said it would be a disgrace to Bazooka to call us bubblegum pop.”

Liam shrugged and tossed Charlie a beer.

“You’re missing the point, Baby Brother. It’s not what they say; it’s that they said anything at all. We have arrived!”

“I guess,” Charlie said sadly.

Liam clapped a hand on his shoulder and gave Charlie a rough shake.

“Bloody Rolling Stone!”

Charlie sighed and flipped the magazine shut. He couldn’t stop the smile creeping across his face.

“It is pretty amazing, right?”

Title: Dingos Ate My Driveshaft
Pairing: Charlie/Oz (BTVS crossover)
Rating: PG-13
Words: 369
Disclaimer: I wish the boys were mine.
Warning: Extreme Fluff. May cause cavities.
A/N: A very late offering for [info]hopelessfangirl who requested crack. I know we share a love for both Charlie and Oz, so I hope you don’t me squishing them together. ;)

“So what do you think?”

Oz looked at Charlie thoughtfully before hitting the replay button on the van’s CD player.

“Not bad,” Oz replied casually. Charlie shook his head in frustration.

“Not bad? Not bad? I poured my bloody heart into that song and all you can say is not bad?”

“It’s mellow…kind of a reggae vibe.”

“Reggae?” Charlie repeated in disbelief. “I…”

“A sort of Bob Marley meets Coldplay by way of The Kinks sort of thing,” Oz continued.

The corner of Oz’s mouth twitched so quickly that Charlie almost missed it. He swatted Oz's arm in retaliation.

“Having a laugh are you? Well aren’t you just hysterical,” Charlie said sullenly.

A small smile appeared on Oz’s calm face as he reached over to lace his fingers with Charlie’s. Charlie looked down at their hands and smiled despite himself. Their matching black nails reminded Charlie of the afternoon they had sat painting them together two days ago. Not to mention the things they did while they were waiting for them to dry.

Still he wasn’t letting Oz off that easily.

“Last time I write a song for a bloody werewolf,” Charlie muttered.

Oz leaned across the seat and kissed him. The feeling of Oz’s lips pressed roughly against his always made Charlie’s stomach flip. Oz pulled away from him and it was all Charlie could do to resist climbing into his lap.

“Last time I ever make out with a ghost,” Oz deadpanned.

“I’m not a ghost…I’m displaced in time,” Charlie shot back.

“Sure,” replied Oz.

He had his head cocked to one side as he listened to the song again. “I like it, the beats a little weird though. Kind of bouncy,” Oz mused.

Charlie had had enough, he reached across the seat and grabbed a fist full of Oz’s annoyingly ironic t-shirt and pulled Oz towards him. Charlie kissed Oz deeply, tugging lightly on his lip. Charlie felt satisfied with himself when he heard a small groan escape the normally stoic Oz’s mouth.

“What was that for?” Oz asked when they came up for air.

Charlie flashed him an evil grin.

“You’re such a chatterbox; I had to do something to shut you up.”

I'm glad you liked it! When you requested gone but not forgotten characters I knew I had to write something with Charlie. I miss my little rock god.

LOL! Oz and Charlie -- I love it! The ironic T-shirts and the nail-painting ... hilarious! Very, very cute and sweet, without being overdone.

And big props for Dr. Hook too! ;D

Thank you so much! I can't hear that song without thinking of Charlie. For some reason it's like my ultimate Charlie song. :)

The first one was very sweet and real. The second one is loltastic I have much love for the title, and how the story actually makes sense. Can we say spin off? I think you could go to the networks and pitch your idea for a series about werewolf and a not-ghost making love and music. It will make vampires seem so yesterday!

Thank you! Heh. Charlie/Oz is like my favorite cracktastic crossover pairing ever. I would totally watch that show. And I'm all for anything that slows the vampire fad. Werewolves are just cooler. ;)

(Also, I love your icon so much. Ghost Charlie is such a cutie.)

Aww thanks! In my head Charlie didn't die, he got magically transported to the Buffyverse where he hangs out with Oz. And they make out a lot. ;)

I like both of these. I'm not sure who Oz is, but I'd be interested to find out!

Thank you so much! Oz is my all time favorite character ever. He was a stoic, guitar playing werewolf played by Seth Green on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He's a wonderful guy, I spent most of my formative years in love with him.;)

Here's a link to his page on the Buffy wiki so you can check out his picture if you want to.

OMG THIS ENTIRE POST IS LOVE. Sorry it's taken me so long to reply!

Firstly, Charlie being all excited about being in Rolling Stone despite the bad review and small blurb put a big ol' smile on my face. The “Are you high?” “Yes, but that’s not the point.” exchange made me chuckle. ;)

AND THEN YOU WROTE CHARLIE/OZ WHICH BROKE ME BRAIN WITH AWESOMENESS! And Charlie's a ghost; that's brilliant! The last line is perfect, too. Short guitarists = ♥ Thank you so much for this! =D

Awwww, that ficlet for me was so, so adorable and bittersweet. I'm so late replying to this but I'm really glad I found it. 'The poor man's Oasis' really is the best description of Driveshaft. I think this really shows the different viewpoints of Charlie and Liam. Charlie was in it for the music, so of course he would have wanted any recognition they got to be good. On the other hand, Liam was only ever in it for the fame - and any publicity is good publicity.

And I also have to provide a little bit of squee for that Charlie/Oz ficlet. Such an awesome pairing! They'd be so good for each other. ♥

I'm so glad you liked it! I posted it so late I was worried that you would miss it. Poor Charlie; I always loved how into his music he was and I totally agree Oz and Charlie would be amazing for each other. :)
