1. I made this frozen lemon pie thing last night that was okay. It didn’t set properly for some reason, so that was annoying, but it was edible. I’m going to blame the Neeleys, it was their recipe (although probably not their fault, but they’re so disgustingly happy all the time it makes me feel better to say it was.)
2. My brother wants me to go to Dragon Con with him this year, but given my current joblessness I can’t bring myself to spend the money. I would maybe do it if there was someone there who I’ve always wanted to meet (Seth Green, Adam Baldwin, anyone from Lost, Neil Gaiman, Greg Grunberg) but I’m not really feeling the guest list. Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell are going which is cool, but I don’t necessarily want to meet them. Oh and Ianto from Torchwood, but I’m more of an Owen girl myself. (What’s Burn Gorman doing these days anyway? Someone needs to snatch him up. )
3. My muse is on strike this week, which is inconvenient because I want to work on my Sawyer/Juliet fic for mollivanders, not to mention the various Dollhouse plot bunnies that have been attacking during my rewatch. Also, I have a new Miles fic in the works, but the pairing is…well, let’s just say it’s unusual, but I’m kind of excited about it. Now if only I could get myself to focus long enough to actually finish any of those I would be a very happy fangirl.
4. Okay this is the real reason I’m posting: I just read the coolest Lost casting spoiler and I need someone to come squee with me. Spoiler under the cut.
According to Ausiello, John Hawkes is going to be on Lost next season. Let me rephrase that, Sol Starr is going to be on Lost next season! Sol Starr as in my favorite character on Deadwood. I don’t care what his character is like I’m betting I’m going to love him. *Claps* Hey, look Lost news that doesn’t leave me feeling depressed and anxious! Well done casting directors.
5. Um, so that Avatar trailer looks… interesting. It’s certainly pretty, but I’m not sure I would actually want to see that movie. We’ll see.

Date: 8/20/09 04:51 pm (UTC)2. Where is our eye candy when we need them? Although I think Zachary Quinto is going which would be... unf. But I can't bring myself to spend money just to go see a guy and shake his hand, maybe. :/
3. IT'S GOING TO BE SAWYER/JULIET? I SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING BUT EEEEEEE!!! :D
5. Avatar does look "interesting" but... James Cameron hasn't really done much for me lately, maybe I'll wait to spend the $10 :p

Date: 8/20/09 05:09 pm (UTC)I know right? I would totally pay to see any of the guys from Lost, or Elizabeth Mitchell for that matter *cough-epic girl crush-cough*. Shouldn't she be pimping her wacky new alien show? My brother is psyched about Shatner being there, but The Shat just doesn't do it for me.
Like I need an excuse to write Sawyer/Juliet. ;) I warn you the combination of S/J + food might result in schmoop. Or sex. Probably both.
Everyone looks so blue. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Date: 8/20/09 05:13 pm (UTC)I can't wait to see V, honestly. Elizabeth Mitchell, plus Firefly cast members, plus sci fi awesomeness? Made of win.
The Shat also seems to be a bit of a jerk/not courteous, so I'd be meh about meeting him too :/
Everyone's so... not human! I just don't feel it yet.

Date: 8/20/09 05:27 pm (UTC)Do you live near Atlanta? I heard Edward James Olmos and Aaron Douglas talk at the Toronto Fan Expo last year. Oh and Brad Dourif was there too, and he signed my Deadwood DVD!!! This year they have Mary McDonnell and Emma Caufield, but I don't know if I can go yet. It's next weekend.

Date: 8/20/09 05:37 pm (UTC)I used to live about an hour away when I was in college. I'm sadly back down south now, so now I'm about five hours away. That's not too bad though.
That's awesome! What was Dourif like? I love Doc Chocran (and I'm insanely worried about him atm, he wasn't looking so good in the last episode I watched. I feel I might need tissues soon.)

Date: 8/20/09 05:48 pm (UTC)Brad Dourif was really cool and soft spoken. He told a lot of stories from all his work - Chucky, LOTR, independent films, but sadly not as much from Deadwood. After I stood in line for an autograph and he took a picture with my husband.

Date: 8/20/09 08:52 pm (UTC)And I haven't watched Deadwood, but all the cast they've cribbed from there have been great on LOST so far, so I'm eager to see this guy.

Date: 8/23/09 01:08 am (UTC)Good luck on the con; I haven't been to one in years and I get homesick thinking about them. There's a big one in Boston I went to once, but going to Boston is a royal pain. It's a pity there isn't anyone you want to see among the guests.
Also, good luck in your battle with the muse. Dollhouse fics and Miles fic sound great, so I hope she cooperates. Now that Lost has gone into time-travel and teleportation, maybe a Deadwood/Lost cross-over is in order. We do seem to be getting the alumni! I hope Mr. Hawkes gets a good part.

Date: 8/23/09 11:58 am (UTC)A fellow Dollhouse fan! There's definitely fic brewing in that department. I'm not entirely on board with everything that happened in season one, but I fell in love with nearly all of the characters. And I'm hoping to get a Miles fic up this week (I've been working a couple for awhile now, but the muse was not cooperating last week.)
Sawyer in Deadwood would be priceless. :)
