Title: beneath the moon, tonight, we’re the sea
Pairing: Sawyer/Claire
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Not mine. Title from Iron and Wine “The Sea and the Rhythm”.
Summary: He comes and goes, she’s just trying to stand still.
A/N: Written for
lost_in_108 challenge #39 “linger”.
It doesn’t fade.
The urge to hide, to run, to fight---she keeps a gun in her closet, bullets on the top shelf far from tiny hands.
She’ll never be free.
She’s not the only one.
He comes and goes; slinks into her room in the middle of the night, the stench of whiskey on his breath, never asks before he crawls into her bed.
They fuck too roughly, each trying to leave a mark, proof that they’re still alive (proof that they’re moving on.)
He leaves before the sun comes up:
See ya around, Mamacita.
She watches him go, always wishes she was the one walking away.

Date: 7/4/10 07:32 pm (UTC)I didn't warm up to Claire until last season either, but I've fallen hard for her now. There is something so interesting about pairing her with Sawyer. I think you're right, out of the group that made it out of the finale they're the two that would have the hardest time readjusting. :)
