Big Damn Hero Moments

You know how people warn you not to visit the tv tropes site unless you have a day and a half to kill? Listen to them for they are very wise souls.
Good grief, I went in search of one thing (that I never found) and ended up reading through all of the Lost tropes and LMAO. I love Lost. I know I say that a lot, but it’s a true fact. I love that crazy, silly, beautiful show so much. And apparently I also love tv tropes.
This one in particular caught my eye: Crowning Moment of Awesome.
After reading that I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to come up with my personal Crowning Moment of Awesome for each of the Losties. Because it’s after midnight and this is what I do with my free time. These are my personal favorite moments, but now I’m curious. What are your favorite "OMG I will love you forever" character moments? It doesn’t have to be for the Losties. You guys know I watch everything.
*List includes season six spoilers. Just FYI.
Juliet- The book club smackdown for sure. “This is my very favorite book, so I am absolutely thrilled that you can’t stand it.” God, I love that woman.
Charlie- Can I just say every moment he was ever on my television screen? Okay, fine I’ll pick two. His “Charlie’s fine by the way” in the Pilot and the confessional scene in The Moth where he tells the priest that he had “relations” with a girl he didn’t know and then had “relations” with another girl and then watched as they had “relations” with one another. Only Charlie could make that sound charming.
Oh and one more because it really is his “crowning moment” as far as I’m concerned: “I’m going to ride shotgun!” CHARLIE!
Sayid- “My name is Sayid Jarrah and I am a torturer.” Nuff said.
Hurley- Saving the day in the season three finale. That was glorious.
Jack- I have to agree with the tropers, it has to be when he takes charge in the middle of Ben’s surgery. So badass.
Sawyer- Jumps from a freaking helicopter.
Kate- Pretends not to know how to use a gun. Actually I think it’s this line after Sawyer says he knows girls like her, “Not girls exactly like me.” Cold-hearted, take no-prisoners Kate will always be my favorite Kate.
Ana Lucia- “I was pregnant.” Bang. That’s a crowning moment of awesome with a side of angst.
Desmond- The “Make Your Own Kind of Music” cold open. Like Juliet, he proved his awesomeness within his first minute of screen time.
Charlotte- Pulls open her shirt to reveal bullet proof vest. Um, yeah this made me fall for her. She came prepared damnit.
Miles- Like Charlie he has lots, but I’ll go with him pointing out the crazy troll logic of the bomb plan in “The Incident”.
Dan- His wacky time experiment in “The Economist”! It spoke to my inner (and outer) SciFi nerd.
Ben- “Got any milk?”
Locke- The very first “Don’t tell me what I can’t do!” Walkabout is never not going to give me chills.
Sun- Dropping her towel at the end of “In Translation”. That scene is so beautiful and I am a sucker for symbolism.
Claire- Shoots an Other. Creepily tells Kate they’ll be safer in the pit. What can I say? I dig crazy Claire.
Jin- Lets the little boy use the restroom. It’s a quiet moment of awesome, but awesome none the less.
Rose- “If you say live together, die alone to me Jack, I’ll punch you in the face.”
Richard- Strolls into Dharmaville in 1973. He’s always badass, but that struck me as particularly cool for some reason.
Ilana- “I’ll have you.”
Frank- “What the hell kind of pilot do you think I am?” Of course he didn’t crash the helicopter. He’s Frank.
Mr. Eko- Refuses to apologize for anything he’s ever done. Also he faced Smokey without flinching. That man was pretty much made of awesome.
Boone- Dude collected a boatload of pens for Jack. Like, five minutes after a plane crash. That’s a crowning moment if I ever saw one.
Alright it's your turn. Hit me with some awesome.

Date: 3/15/10 12:02 pm (UTC)More awesome moments for Sun - pretty much all of S5 - esp. when she talks to Widmore:
"You mentioned that you and I had common interests. Why don't you tell me exactly what they might be."
"To kill Benjamin Linus."
I love that Rose bit. :-) Actually, pretty much 'this!' to all of it. Except for the Jin bit - when did that happen?

Date: 3/15/10 06:04 pm (UTC)That's a great Sun moment! I almost picked that one for her.
Heh. The Jin thing is in what is probably one of the most boring Lost episodes ever, "And Found..." I just remember it as the Lost borrows a really bad sitcom plot episode. Sun loses her wedding ring! Shock! *shakes head*
Anyway, in the FB Jin has a job as a doorman for this fancy pants hotel and the evil manager tells him not to let poor people into the lobby to use the restrooms, but Jin can't say no to this little boy and his Dad and ends up losing his job.
It took me a long time to warm up to Jin, but I think that was the moment I really let go of my lingering suspicion that he was an ass. It's a little scene, but I kind of love it. :)

Date: 3/16/10 03:03 am (UTC)And when we see him looking the same when Ben's a kid? I think that was the first major clue that the man was freakin' ageless? Crowning moment too.
And back to "Not in Portland," the insane transition from Meek!Juliet to Badass!Juliet. (Though I really wish we had got more details about that transition.)
Oh, and Juliet faced Smokey without flinching too! :D

Date: 3/16/10 03:28 am (UTC)Guh. Juliet had like one crowning moment after another. She's just that cool.
