My Flist Is An Awesome Flist

1. Thank you guys so much for all of the birthday wishes! You really made my day. *Hugs everybody*. I had a nice birthday. My parents are enabling my television on DVD addiction by giving me Mad Men season two (epic rewatch commences tomorrow) and Pushing Daisies season two (I’m going to watch “Comfort Food” like nine thousand times), add this to my own pre-order of Dollhouse and it looks like I’m going to be watching a lot of television in the immediate future. Of course that’s not exactly a new thing.
2. I’m still working on that Miles fic. I will have that sucker posted by Sunday even if it kills me. I’m not sure why I’m having such a hard time getting this fic to cooperate. It would help if all of these other plot bunnies would stop distracting me.
3. Also, you know what this fandom needs? A Sawyer nickname generator. I spend an insane amount of time angsting over nicknames when I write Sawyer. Seriously, I fail at coming up with witty nicknames. I just want to type in say “Walt” and have the computer spit out some sort of pop culture savvy nickname.
4. I’m not sure how many of you guys are watching Torchwood: Children of Earth, but I would like to know when this show went from being amusing crack to legitimately good television. That said I kind of want the crack back.
Um, so are they planning on having a fourth season of this show? Cause you know they might want to think about not killing everybody ever. I’m just saying in my experience shows work better when there are people in them.
That being said, Russell T. Davies you are a heartless bastard. First you killed Owen. Twice. Then Tosh. And don’t even get me started on what you did to Donna Noble. Now Ianto? Seriously, it wasn’t bad enough you saddled him with the worst boyfriend in the history of everything ever. You had to go and kill him too. My poor sweetie, you were rocking this mini series. Oh, and his sister. Who’s going to tell his sister? Epic fail.
Let me just say this now: if anything happens to Rhys tomorrow, I’m done with you show. As much as I love Gwen (and I love her quite a lot) I have zero interest in watching a show about Jack, his man pain, and how Gwen saves him from himself. Because you know what, Gwen deserves better than that. And so do I.
Where is The Doctor in all of this? He would pawned this crap three nights ago and we’d be off visiting dead authors and drinking tea by now. We really need to devise some sort of bat signal equivalent for situations like this.
5. I watched Leverage last night.
It is not possible for me to love Eliot more than I do right now. The boxing! The hair! The fighting talk with Sophie! I want to write fic now, but I fear I’m not familiar enough with canon to pull it off.
Also, Sophie was cracking me up with the pork rinds. I know they sound gross, sweetie, but they’re actually not bad as long as you don’t think about where they come from too hard.
And Parker and Hardison! They are too adorable for their own good.
6. Seriously, you guys all rock! :D

Date: 7/24/09 03:59 am (UTC)Good to know there's another Mad Men fan on my flist! Best show ever, y/y?
TW killed me. I d/led and watched as they aired in the UK and good god. I was only half on board, since my two favorites were Tosh and Owen, but still, I liked all the characters and was curious to see where they'd go with it. COE was undeniably good television, but too painful. If there's more TW to come, I'm gonna give it a pass.
I love Gwen too. A lot of people seem to dislike her, but I think she is made of awesome. Also, I have a girlcrush on Eve Myles. :)
Leverage is such good fun. It's my summertime weekly comfort food, that and Burn Notice.

Date: 7/24/09 02:44 pm (UTC)Mad Men is the best show on television right now, hands down. I love Lost more, but the quality of Mad Men just blows me away. I'm dying to see the new season.
I'm totally with you on Torchwood. Ianto just killed me last night, I wasn't expecting to lose anyone else after Owen and Tosh. I'm kind of apprehensive about watching the final episode, I have to see how it ends, but I'm pretty sure this is the end of the line for me and Torchwood.
People don't like Gwen? But...she's so cool. Did they see her shooting with two guns?
You have an Eliot icon! That makes me so happy. :)

Date: 7/24/09 04:10 am (UTC)Hah, Miles is being difficult? The only drawback to the luau is that there are new plot bunnies everyday to distract me from yesterday's bunny that I haven't finished yet. And the one from the day before. I seriously have a list taped to my computer screen. I'm going to try to go in order, but...

Date: 7/24/09 02:49 pm (UTC)It's not Miles so much as what I'm making him do. I'm attempting to write an action sequence, which seemed like a good idea when I outlined the fic. I fail at action, I'm a have the characters sit around and talk kind of gal.
But I'm not giving up, you will have fic by Sunday. Miles is just going to have to do what I tell him. ;)

Date: 7/24/09 08:19 am (UTC)Torchwood was painful this time around. I missed Owen and Tosh, and when Ianto went I knew that I wouldn't be watching a fourth series if it's made. It's good television and I'm sure it appeals to someone, somewhere, but Jack was always my least favourite and also the only one who wasn't ever gonna die, so that wasn't a good combination.
I definitely agree with you on the nickname generator, that would be awesome!

Date: 7/24/09 02:54 pm (UTC)Torchwood is making me sad. I was already grumpy because of the lack of Owen, killing Ianto just ticked me off more.
I'm with you on Jack. It really irks me that he gets to come back every time he dies while the characters I love like Tosh, Owen, and Ianto are gone permanently. Stupid, show. I think Torchwood and I are breaking up now.
