It doesn’t seem fair.
She doesn’t remember how long it’s been since she glimpsed this place, this dream that wasn’t a second chance but an end.
She’s not ready to let go.
The feeling’s mutual, she can tell by the grip of his hand in hers.
They watch as the doors open, flooding the church with light. Juliet feels a sense of peace, but she turns away.
“You still got my back?” she murmurs.
James grins.
“Hell yeah.”
Laughing they run towards the exit, ignoring their friend’s protests. They don’t stop until they’re back outside in the chilly autumn night.
“What now?” she asks.
“Anything you want, Blondie.”
