Summary: Sawyer may not speak destiny, but it sure as hell has his number.
A/N: Written for lost_in_108 challenge #18 “circles”.

 

Ilana fires the first shot before the words are out of Sawyer’s mouth. He can just about make himself out, paddling like hell.

“That’s me, dumbass.”

His chest feels tight suddenly, Juliet’s right in front him (she doesn’t know it of course) but he could stop her, he could stop all of it right now.

The canoe tips a bit as he tries to stand, he opens his mouth to shout her name and the bullet hits. He looks down and there’s blood seeping through his shirt.

“Son of a…”

He falls backwards, Duckett’s words echoing in his mind.

It’ll come back around.

He always knew it would.
