They never stopped to consider the possibility that they would make it off the island.
(Miles is glad. He’s pretty sure they wouldn’t have fucked against a tree if they thought they were going to be standing in Fiji forty-eight hours later. And he liked the fucking. A lot.)
Miles watches Richard take it all in: the freedom, the knowledge he’s going to die one day, the crowd of unfortunately dressed tourists.
“You okay?”
Richard opens his mouth, but can’t seem to find the words. Impulsively, Miles takes hold of Richard’s hand. It’s kind of weird, but Richard smiles gratefully.
“Just don’t let go, okay?”
Miles holds tight.
