This was good, very happy-sad, and I wish the first part had accorded with canon, because I could just see Charlotte out there initiating Dan into Halloween rituals. I could also see her getting freaked out by the junior Charlotte living down the lane (probably getting twitted about it by Miles, so that she rejoices in the Chang baby as a chance to get her own back). The second part was so sad, and so likely, both with Juliet's efforts to bring Dan into the group and his own realization that he couldn't live with the reminder of what was coming growing up down the lane. And then, the poor pathetic pumpkin! (I had squash for dinner tonight). I hope it will eventually win out by being able to reproduce, since Dan probably doesn't know the ritual of roasting and eating the seeds and will toss them in the compost heap to become next year's compost pumpkin vine.
